Our commitment

Make A Smile Organisation processes personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019. We collect only what we need to receive donations, manage sponsorships and coordinate volunteers, and we never sell or share your data for marketing.

Children's information

A child is listed publicly only after their parent or guardian has given written consent, which we keep on file. Public pages and sponsor dashboards show a child's first name, age, school grade and, where consented, a photo. Surnames, schools, home locations and consent documents are visible only to authorised staff.

Contact between sponsors and children

Sponsors never contact children directly. Messages are sent through the platform, read by our team, and passed on only after approval. Please do not share your contact details or request a child's.

Payments

Card payments are processed by Paystack and M-Pesa payments by Safaricom. We never see or store your card number or M-Pesa PIN. We keep a record of each donation, its fund and its receipt so we can report back to you and meet our legal obligations.

Leaderboards

Leaderboards are opt-in and show a nickname only. Zakat is never shown on any leaderboard, and donation leaderboards never show amounts.

Your rights

You may ask to see, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw consent, by writing to info@makeasmile.or.ke. Some donation records must be kept for accounting purposes.
